All CME activities offered through the Endeavor Health: Edward-Elmhurst Hospitals Accredited CME Program must adhere to these policies, which include, but are not limited to the following: commercial support, honorarium, and advertisement and promotion. We offer a FAQ page to help guide you through the essential requirements of these policies.

Guidelines for Planning Accredited CME
Who may serve as Activity Planner(s)? For reasons of financial accountability and adherence to Endeavor Health policies, a clinical member employed by Endeavor Health for at least 50% of the time should be part of the planning team.  Non-clinical faculty members may be considered for leadership positions based on need; this requires prior approval by the Program & Education Committee and the CME Department. Community practitioners, non-physicians, and community health partners may participate as a course co-planner in conjunction with an Edward-Elmhurst Health committee member.

What is the First Step in Activity Planning? (1) Identify the Practice Gap/Educational Need: Find out how to identify a practice gap that meets the standards for accredited continuing medical education (ACME). (2) Review the Accredited CME Planning Guidelines using the links below. (3) Map out your process! Use Design Thinking and other tools to help you determine what the best plan of action is for your learners. (4) Review the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited CME. (5) Contact the CME Department in advance of the proposed activity to ensure the necessary time to discuss the conference concept and its planning and promotion by email at [email protected].

Commercial Support (Food?) NO! Designated financial commercial support for courses and internet activity (enduring material) is not allowed if per Endeavor Health: Edward-Elmhurst Hospitals Accredited CME Program's Policy. Please click on the Standards for Integrity of Accredited CME Activities above for details on our policy. Additionally, an employee or owner of an ineligible company may not be involved in any part of the Accredited CME activity. The owners and employees of ineligible companies are considered to have unresolvable financial relationships and must be excluded from participating as planners or faculty, and must not be allowed to influence or control any aspect of the planning, delivery, or evaluation of accredited continuing education. Those individuals cannot be involved in the planning or delivery of Endeavor Health: Edward-Elmhurst Hospitals Accredited CME activities.
