2026 EDW Surgical M&M Conference (RSS)

Surgical case audit (morbidity and mortality conference) focused on structured review of surgical cases, complications, and outcomes. The conference represents a forum to critically evaluate clinical decision making, operative technique, perioperative management, and systems-based factors. The goal is to identify opportunities for improvement, reinforce evidence-based practices, and enhance patient safety and quality of surgical care.

1. Identify perioperative factors that contribute to surgical complications, adverse events, and deviations from expected clinical outcomes.
2. Analyze clinical decision making and technical aspects of care to recognize opportunities for improvement in patient selection, operative strategy, and perioperative management.
3. Apply evidence-based practices and multidisciplinary approaches to reduce complications and improve surgical outcomes.
4. Incorporate lessons learned from case review into clinical practice to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and operative performance.
