Overview

AI has shifted from a futuristic concept to a transformative bedside reality. This session explores why AI is uniquely disruptive, moving beyond simple automation toward tools that actively augment clinical reasoning.

We will outline our health system’s strategic roadmap for this transition, detailing the rigorous governance and safety guardrails we use to mitigate bias and protect the provider-patient relationship. The session concludes with an interactive forum to discuss real-world use cases and identify opportunities to redesign our workflows, ensuring technology serves as a bridge—not a barrier—to high-quality care.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Analyze the unique evolution and disruptive potential of AI to understand how generative tools differ from traditional automation in the clinical setting.
  2. Evaluate the health system’s governance framework and safety guardrails designed to mitigate algorithmic bias and protect the integrity of the provider-patient relationship.
  3. Collaborate on redesigning clinical workflows by identifying practical AI use cases that balance operational efficiency with ethical responsibility at the bedside.
