2026 NCH Update on Management of Asymptomatic Carotid Disease

This lecture reviews the contemporary management of asymptomatic carotid artery disease, emphasizing risk stratification and evidence-based decision-making. Participants will examine current guidelines, the role of best medical therapy versus revascularization, and patient selection for carotid endarterectomy or stenting. Practical considerations and key updates from the Carotid Revascularization and Medical Management for Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis Trial (CREST-2) will be highlighted to support clinical practice.

1. Summarize current stroke risk in patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis.
2. Compare available treatment strategies, including medical therapy, carotid endarterectomy, and carotid artery stenting.
3. Review key updates from the CREST-2 trial and their clinical implications.
