16th Interventional Endoscopy Course for GI Nurses, Technicians and APPs

The course is designed to increase GI APPs' knowledge and competency in assisting with and managing care of patients undergoing complex interventional endoscopic procedures and support physicians in the management of care for this patient population. The interactive course will include lectures and discussions on Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), colon polyps, EUS, UGI tract bleeding, alcohol associated liver disease, IBD Pharmacology, PEG tubes, and the role of the APP in modern GI/Endoscopy practice, as well as panel discussion on non-variceal and variceal bleeding, painless jaundice, IBD management, acute cholangitis and acute cholecystitis.

1. Describe the options for colon polyp removal through cold snare, EMR, and ESD
2. Evaluate updated techniques for extraction of large bile duct stones and management of biliary strictures
3. Compare EUS FNA with EUS FNB
4. Identify the advantages and complication associated with EUS-guided gastrojejunostomy
5. Discuss the milestones of career advancement for a GI technician as well as a GI Advanced Practice Provider
6. Describe the updates in the assessment of Barrett's esophagus as well as eradication options
7. Evaluate the modern techniques for detection, staging, and endoscopic management of esophageal cancer
8. Explain the clinical advantages and technical aspects of POEM in the management of achalasia
9. Identify the advantages of the newer non-surgical procedures for the management of gallbladder disease
10. Compare the differences between available foregut surgeries as they pertain to endoscopy
11. Discuss the new therapies for MASH and alcohol associated liver disease
12. Describe management options for acute cholangitis
13. Explain new techniques in the management of upper GI tract bleeding
14. Evaluate strategies for reducing risk in the GI lab
15. Discuss the management of patients with malignant bile duct and colon obstruction
16. Identify the newer pharmacologic options in IBD as well as their utilization
17. Explain techniques of PEG tube placement as well as management of complication
18. Identify clinical scenarios when an interventional radiologist or surgeon should be consulted
