Registration is not required for this online event.  However, due to requirements of our CME accreditation, credits are not applied until the Post-Test and evaluation/follow-up survey are completed.

Completion Requirements:  To gain credit for this online activity, participants must view the entire video, complete the post-test with a 100% pass rate, and complete the evaluation and follow-up survey. Participants will have one attempt to complete the post-test.

Overview
Over the last two decades, the coronavirus family has been identified as the source of several highly pathogenic global outbreaks. The recent coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been identified as the culprit of the recent, highly infectious outbreak. As the COVID-19 exhibits similar to the 2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), clinical manifestation most commonly presents in the pulmonary system. Treatment can vary depending on the infected individuals symptoms which range from mild to severe. Two kinds of tests are available for COVID-19: viral tests and antibody tests. This live activity is designed to review the latest pulmonology and pathology findings on treatment and testing for COVID-19.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  1. 1. Identify the respiratory manifestations of COVID-19.
  2. 2. Evaluate the predictors of worsened respiratory outcomes caused by COVID-19.
  3. 3. Identify indications for outpatient management of respiratory symptoms of COVID-19 including if/when steroids should be used.
  4. 4. Review the inpatient management of severe respiratory disease in COVID
  5. 5. Review the viral structure of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and how it relates to transmission dynamics and testing.
  6. 6. Compare rapid and standard PCR-based assays for the diagnosis of COVID-19.
  7. 7. Discuss the differences between antigen and antibody testing for COVID-19.
  8. 8. Review combination testing and discuss CDC testing recommendations
