Registration

Overview
The Medical Staff Quality Committee (MSQC) provides a multi-disciplinary forum for the development and implementation of department, service. and facility-based peer review policies, procedures, programs and initiatives for the purpose of improving patient care/safety and reducing morbidity and mortality. This is a regularly scheduled series of meetings that reviews and evaluates specific cases related to practitioner practice performance. The MSQC determines the appropriateness of care provided and areas for improvement and analyzes practice patterns and trends in order to make recommendations to promote best practice and facilitate quality improvement initiatives.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this live activity participants will be able to:

  1. 1. Analyze selected peer review cases to determine whether appropriate standard of care was provided and/or patient safety opportunities for improvement are identified.
  2. 2. Identify process/policy issues in order to develop medical staff or hospital quality improvement initiatives, education gaps, and potential educational opportunities.
  3. 3. Review hospital rule indicators/core measures, along with outliers, to identify practice trends and potential process issues.
