Overview

The COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant impact on the health of the world population. Of those who were infected and recovered, many had residual effects that have persisted beyond what would be expected from a viral illness. It is important that all health care personnel be aware of these conditions

Migraines are a common and potentially debilitating condition affecting the lives of many patients and their loved ones. It is important for all health care personnel to be aware of the diagnosis and most current treatments.

Thyroid conditions are very common and require ongoing follow up and care. It is important that all health care personnel are aware of identifying, diagnosing, and treating the various thyroid conditions.

Many patients who are discharged from the hospital go back to a home situation that may not be ideal for making a healthy, safe recovery. It is important that patients do not get readmitted to the hospital due to factors that are potentially preventable and can be adequately screened for. All health care personnel need to be aware of situations in the home of patients' functioning that may prevent safe transitions back to home.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Define what is known about post covid conditions.
  2. Identify which patients have post covid conditions.

  5. Determine which patients have migraines.
  6. Explain the appropriate treatments for migraines.
  7. Describe the symptoms and signs of the various thyroid conditions.
  8. Recognize patients who have thyroid conditions.
