Registration

Overview
One person dies every 34 seconds in the US from cardiovascular disease. Heart disease costs the US about $229 billion each year. In DuPage County alone, the average estimated total cardiovascular disease death rate was 348 per 100,000 cases in 2020. Cases are discussed in-depth and critically analyzed. All relevant history, physical exam, and non-invasive studies are used to identify correctible deficiencies in provider practices, system failures, and patient behaviors to improve patient outcomes. This multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary case-based conference is designed to provide participants with a review of invasive and interventional cardiovascular skills and provide up-to-date information in the practice of interventional cardiology.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:


  1. Evaluate the procedures of individual case studies of cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular, and other cardiovascular cases for opportunities to improve outcomes.
  2. Critically analyze the indications for catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, and open heart surgery to determine patient care needs.
  3. Discuss the pathophysiology of complex cardiovascular cases and new practice patterns for cardiovascular disease incorporating principles learned in the subsequent care of patients.
