Overview
Over 30,000 HBOT treatments are done per day across the country. The regulatory approval for 13 indications such as pulmonary embolism, severe anemia, decompression sickness, burns, and brain abscesses. HBOT-treated patients reported a 76% healing rate compared with 48% of those not treated with HBOT. Additionally, studies have found that patients who completed HBOT treatments have statistically significantly less amputations and higher amputation-free survival rates. In recent years, evidence has also accumulated surrounding the neuroplasticity effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Clinical studies have demonstrated several neuroplasticity effects including anti-inflammatory, mitochondrial function restoration, increased perfusion via angiogenesis and induction of proliferation and migration of stem cells.1,2 This monthly conference is dedicated to the advancement of the practice of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Each conference revolves around a topic involving the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for the treatment of approved conditions, identifying best practices, system guidelines, and patient behaviors to improve patient outcomes. Each conference may be delivered through didactic lectures, article reviews, and case reviews.
