Overview
Managing Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) remains tough despite medical progress, mainly due to severe headaches and the risk of vision loss. IIH affects 1 to 2 people per 100,000 yearly, with a higher rate among obese females aged 15 to 44 (4 to 21 per 100,000). This activity discusses integrating Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles to improve procedure outcomes. It also examines how medicine can learn from aviation safety, comparing safety protocols. Healthcare professionals will gain insights into IIH treatment, endovascular stenting, and enhancing patient care with CRM principles.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. 1. State the treatments for idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
  2. 2. Explain the role of endovascular stenting in idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
  3. 3. Compare checklists and timeouts in aviation safety to those in operative procedures.
